Many students have problems with the correct use of verbs related to speaking.
In this lesson I will solve this problem



TALK
It refers to conversation exchange, discussion, negotiation

  • The French spokesman talked about the current problems
  • The new factory opens tomorrow and I talk to him then



SPEAK

It refers to convey information, opinion, a feeling, a language


  • How many languages do you speak?
  • The spokesman spoke to the governor
  • After he shouted, no one spoke



TELL
It refers to communicate information, facts, news

  • Tell her the big news about the baby's birth
  • I won't tell anyone your secret


SAY
It refers to convey information, opinion, feeling, intention, instruction, thought

  • He says do not think too much about selling the house
  • She said that she would be late
