English Go verb



Go meaning : move from one place to another
Its conjugation changes in third person. (he/she goes)

Go + ing structure is used with verbs. Indicated activities


Adding -ing for verbs:
eat - eating, study - studying, do - doing

  • If the verb ends in a consonant :  live + ing = living                                                                   
 live - living, take - taking, make- making
  • One syllable + CVC :                                        
 stop - stopping, sit - sitting


Application in verb tenses 

Present simple
He goes running twice a week.
Present continuous
We are go skiing this morning.
Present perfect:
I have gone fishing five times this summer.
Present perfect continuous:
She has been going dancing a lot nowadays.

Past simple : He went running twice a week.
Past continuous: We were go skiing yesterday .
Past perfect: I had gone fishing five times last summer
Past perfect continuous: She had been going dancing a lot.

Future: They are going to go surfing in Australia.
They will go surfing in Australia.
Future Continuous: We will be go skiing.
Future Perfect : I will have gone fishing
Future Perfect Continuous: She will have been going dancing
