English Time - for & since

When we use 'for' and 'since' in English language

If we want to express a time period that has a start & an end point , we use

FOR
  • 10 minutes
I've been waiting for you for 10 minutes
  • 3 weeks
I'll be there for 3 weeks
  • 1 year
We know each others for 1 year

but if we talk about a precise time, we use

SINCE
  • 16th November
We have been forming a couple since 16th November
  • Saturday
I've been dancing in this dance studio since Saturday
  • 8 o'clock
I've taught since 8 o'clock
